About Us

PotomacSI (or PSI for short) is a woman-owned, veteran-owned small business operating primarily in and around Washington, DC. We were founded in 2015 to provide a range of specialized services to government clients.

What does the "SI" stand for?
SI is intentionally vague. Our founders have many years of experience working as government Systems Integrators. They established PotomacSI because they recognized that traditional Systems Integration was failing to deliver the intended results. Traditional SI contractors were approaching software development the same way they might approach building satellites or submarines. The net result was programs that cost too much, took too long, and didn't deliver what the user really needed.

PotomacSI is setting out to break that mold. We're working with our customers to craft acquisition strategies that inject innovation throughout their lifecycle, that encourage use of modern development techniques, and that reward real results over mounds of paperwork and documentation.

So SI does not stand for Systems Integration. That's an old-school mindset, and not one we advocate. It can stand for Service Integration, as that's closer to the direction we need to go. It can also stand for Systematic Innovation, as we routinely work with government customers to introduce new technologies and operating practices. And in some cases it may stand for Specialized Instruction, as we deliver tailored training to meet our customers' needs.
